Why are Dekart’s digital IDs issued for free?

There are many Certificate Authorities (CAs) which provide digital certificate that can be used for email encryption and digital signatures; however, the great majority of them require payment before a digital certificate (ID) is issued.

Dekart is a CA which provides a digital ID at absolutely no cost, and you will not be charged if you request another digital certificate.

The key-factor that enables us to issue free digital certificate is the fact that we do not have to bear the expenses required to confirm one’s identity. Each certificate we issue is bound to the email address from which the request came, therefore the digital certificate can only be installed and used by the true owner of that email account. Using one’s digital signature with a different person’s address is not possible.

Throughout the years we have gained the experience that allows us to minimize the costs of running a certificate authority, making it possible to issue digital certificates at no charge. Please feel free to request a digital certificate for yourself and your friends; you are welcome to get back and request another digital ID after the original one expires.

Some may be repelled by the fact that the service is free, because ‘free’ is usually associated with ‘unreliable’ or ‘not good enough’, but this does not apply to our CA. Dekart digital ID fully complies with the X.509 specification, thus the Dekart digital certificate can be used with any application, without any limitations, as if you were using a non-free certificate.
